I dare to say that most people have been this through <img src='http://www.health-geek.net/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' /> It is not very cool when you are having fever and out there is 40 degrees. It happened so many times that you have planned a trip and you got sick just before. That&#8217;s why you have to be extra carefull if you want to plan your vacation!</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be stressed, thats the first rule. Drink enough fluids, any natural juces will do, but dont drink too mutch though. Fresh vegetables and fruits are imprtant to your well being, as they contain lots of vitamins and antioxidants!</p>
<p>Be active, sport is healty when you do it right and without risk of a injury. Daily activity like half an hour or more is perfect! Go for walks in the park for starters!</p>

The options are definitely more old world than new age and utilize some of the most atmospheric locations including the old bath houses of England and Spain, salt springs in Germany or the thermal waters of Romania. Most emphasize thermal springs, relaxation, socialization and light exercise.</p>
<p><strong>1. Bath, England</strong><br />
This spa town southwest of London owes its existence to hot springs that reputedly have unique healing properties. The ancient Celts, Romans and 18th century Jane-Austen compatriots all took the plunge here and today the thermal spas are still popular. Thermae Bath Spa consists of five Georgian buildings and a new stone-and-glass construction and boasts four spring-fed pools with naturally-heated thermal water enriched with 43 minerals. Guests can choose from more than 50 indulgent options and it&#8217;s not too expensive. Soak in the historic pool or take a Cleopatra Bath.</p>
<p><strong>2. Hévíz, Hungary</strong><br />
Budapest is known as the spa capital of the world, thanks to 100 hot springs that bubble up through the city. While locals use the baths built on them as an every day ritual they usually vacation at Hévíz, Europe&#8217;s largest thermal lake. It is filled with mineral-rich water and the thick mud beneath is said to soothe everything from rheumatic ailments to skin conditions. There are plenty of choices for packages and visits should you come.</p>
<p><strong>3. Tuscan Spas, Italy</strong><br />
Tuscany&#8217;s spa tradition dates back to Etruscan times and Italians today still enjoy the many thermal outlets, particularly in the Val d&#8217;Orcia. One of the best free options is Bagni San Filippo, in the province of Siena, that is particularly crowded on full moon nights. The hotel options at Bagno Vignoni are also popular and affordable or you can book into some of the ritzy spa resorts such as Grotta Giusti or Terme di Saturnia.</p>
<p><strong>4. Bavarian Salt Springs, Germany</strong><br />
Bad Reichenhall has attracted attention since the Bronze Age for its concentrated salt springs, which have been used both as a commodity, and for therapeutic purposes. Today visitors can alleviate back and joint pain at a number of complexes. There&#8217;s Rupertus Therme, an indoor-outdoor bathing complex where you can drink from the city&#8217;s 55 brine wells or catch your breath in a salt inhalation room. Local spas make the best of the brine and there&#8217;s a variety of salt-based treatments ranging from salt massages to exfoliating salt scrubs.</p>
<p><strong>5. Cordoba Hammam, Spain</strong><br />
Most Arab-style bathhouses were left to crumble when Moorish domination ended in Spain. But in Córdoba the Medina Califal Hammam was restored in 2001and it looks much like it did in its 10th century heyday with the same star-shaped holes in the ceiling and intricate tiles. Guests alternate between a series of hot and cold baths and then submit to a quick pummeling from a chiropractic masseur. This is a secular, mixed-sex crowd, so advance bookings and bathing suits are required.</p>
<p><strong>6. Black Sea Coast, Romania</strong><br />
Romania is home to about a third of Europe&#8217;s mineral and thermal springs. Spas can be found everywhere on the Black Sea Coast on the banks of lakes as well as in the mountains. The spas provide relief for many medical disorders and illnesses.</p>
<p><strong>7. Alpine Spa, Sweden</strong><br />
Spa treatments are popular amongst Swedes from Gotland to Göteborg and Stockholm. But the ultimate is that offered in the far north under the midnight sun. Go to Riksgransen at 186 miles above the Arctic Circle for treatments borrowed from the indigenous inhabitants. Try a “Lappish Zen” treatment that consists of cleansing, a spa soak and deep relaxation, followed by a hot stone massage in a Lapp tent.</p>
<p><strong>8. Ironmonger Row Baths, London, England</strong><br />
These Turkish Baths are great value for money and require no pre booking. They are the perfect stress-buster for life in the busy capital. They include a steam room, a series of hot rooms of varying temperature, marble slabs for body scrubbing and an icy plunge pool. There are two relaxation rooms where you can have a snooze or massage or watch television. Drinks and snacks are even available.</p>
<p><strong>9. Reykjavik, Iceland</strong><br />
Imagine swimming even when the weather is howling outside! Thanks to enormous reserves of thermal water, no other city in the world has as many spas per capita as the Iceland capital or thermally heated swimming pools. These waters have high silica and algae content which does good things to the skin. There are countless facials, body treatments and other therapies on offer at spas across the city. Some have indoor quiet rooms with recliners, soft music and a roaring fire for a mid-day snooze.</p>
<p><strong>10. Edipsos, Greece</strong><br />
People have been taking the waters in the spa town of Edipsos on Evia since the time of Aristotle. Roman and Byzantine emperors also bathed in the waters. It&#8217;s a popular location today mostly for Greek visitors who come for the springs and relaxation. Some hotels have permission to pump the thermal water directly into their own spas and are built around the ancient ruins of Roman baths. But to use any you must register with the Greek National Tourism Health Centre first which has its own hydro-massage baths, indoor and outdoor pools of both mineral and seawater, a physiotherapy center and a gymnasium.</p>

<p>Some migraine patients would experience warning signs before the start of these headaches. The technical term used for these warnings is called &#8220;aura&#8221;. Aura can present itself in shape of flashes of light, a blind spot or tingling.</p>
<p>The correct medication, some self-help and a healthy lifestyle can help you manage migraine better. This can improve the quality of life of the patient.</p>
<p>These can help warning you of a migraine headache attack:</p>
<p>    * Pain on one or both sides of the head.<br />
    * Pulsating or throbbing pain in the head<br />
    * The more you move, the bigger the pain becomes.<br />
    * You feel dizzy and feel the need to throw up<br />
    * Sensitiveness to light and sound. </p>
<p>One person may experience migraines several times a month while another might just have one or two migraine attacks a year. Symptoms vary from one individual to another. It is very common for most of the people with migraines to experience the painful migraines without ever seeing the auras. A migraine with aura used to be called “classic migraine”. If one experiences auras, these warning sign usually appear about 15 minutes to half an hour before the pain begins. <p>Good forms of aerobic exercise are: stationary bike, jogging (this can also be done on a treadmill), fast walking (also can be done on a treadmill), stair stepper, elliptical machine, rowing machine, sets of sprinting, running, or any other form of cardiovascular activity that would raise your heartbeat to the fat burning zone.</p>
<p><strong>Frequency and Duration of Aerobic Exercise</strong></p>
<p>As far as frequency is concerned, we feel comfortable recommending 2 to 4 sessions of 20-40 minutes each for male bodybuilders in the off-season. If a contest is approaching, then we would gradually increase the activity to no more than two sessions per day, 7 days a week of 45 minutes each on the worst case for a short period of time. Remember, it is those long hours of cardio that cause bodybuilders to look like POWs (Prisoners of War) in the bodybuilding stage the day of the show. If you are doing 2 sessions of 45 minutes of cardio every day make sure that you take plenty of glutamine (15-30 grams per day) in addition to having at least 7 meals per day.</p>
<p>For women, due to their higher concentrations of estrogen in the blood and due to the fact that they have less muscle mass than a male, more frequent aerobic activity is beneficial. Therefore, we recommend an off season plan of 4 to 5 sessions of 30-45 minutes and if a contest approaches, we would gradually increase the activity to no more than two sessions per day, 7 days a week of 45 minutes each on the worst case.<br />
<strong>Cycling of Aerobic Activity</strong></p>
<p>During the off season, you may choose to cycle you aerobic activity in the following manner in order to prevent your body from adjusting to a specific pattern:</p>
<p><strong>1. Cycle The Kind Of Aerobic Activity Being Used:</strong> Changing up the aerobic exercises prevents the body from getting so good at a specific activity that it becomes hard for you then to raise your heart rate.</p>
<p><strong>2. Cycle The Duration Of The Activity:</strong> For example, a male bodybuilder that performs 3 sessions a week may do 20 minutes of aerobics on weeks 1&amp; 2, 25 minutes on weeks 3 &amp; 4, and finally 30 minutes on weeks 5 &amp; 6.</p>
<p>A female bodybuilder can use the same pattern as well (e.g. 4 sessions performed for 20 minutes on weeks 1&amp;2, 30 minutes on weeks 3 &amp; 4, and finally 40 minutes on weeks 5 &amp; 6). This form of cycling will not only keep the workouts interesting but it will also prevent the body from permanently adjusting to a given length of the activity. Remember, that as soon as the body adapts, it will be tougher to reach the fat burning zone and therefore it will be harder to use aerobic exercise as weapon against fat.</p>

Each one has a receptor that reacts to different substances and makes it possible for you to taste the foods you eat. There are five elements of taste: sour, bitter, salty, savory, and sweet.  But did you know you can desensitize your taste buds?</p>
<p>It’s true! That’s why when people try and switch over to an average ‘healthy’ diet from an average American diet they can’t do it. Well, most of the people can’t do it. The reason why is that these people are so used to adding stuff to their foods, or eating highly processed, sugar-loaded, fat-loaded, grease-loaded, overall-bad-for-you types of foods. This literally is killing your taste buds!</p>
<p>I am a firm believer in the power of food to keep you healthy. People that eat better are healthier and sick a whole lot less. Some people just think that if they get sick they can just get a prescription and feel better—but why waste the money? Food is nature’s medicine. Don’t go messing it up with added, unnatural stuff the body can’t use.</p>
<p>Over the years I have developed some ways to make my food taste better, which is an important trick in eating healthy. But a lot of people think that to lose body fat, or lose weight that they need to follow a super strict diet that bodybuilder’s use to get super lean for a contest. The typical meal plan consists of plain grilled chicken breasts, steamed broccoli, oatmeal, plain lean steak, canned tuna, and protein shakes. I’ve even known some bodybuilders who eat their oatmeal dry with absolutely nothing. Yuk!</p>
<p>This is an absolute disaster if you are not a bodybuilder and have a life. The diet is much too boring and plain. I can’t even do it, and I have tried.</p>
<p>So what do you do?</p>
<p>Well, like anything you need to have patience when moving from a ‘crap’ diet to a natural, healthy diet. Slowly but surely you need to reduce your foods that have the extra sugars, sweeteners, high fructose corn syrups. Watch the foods that have the added trans fats (anything listed with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated). Some foods will surprise you what they have in them, so be sure to read the ingredients list.</p>
<p>All this extra stuff added to your food or drinks are taking away from the natural ability of your taste buds to taste real, natural, healthy foods.</p>
<p>I use natural peanut butter as an example. This is one of my favorite foods and I eat it everyday. It’s one of the healthiest sources of good fats you can get. But a lot of people, including me, hated the taste once I switched from the Jif/Peter Pan (fake) type peanut butters. But if you stick with it you grow to love this food. It usually only takes one jar of the natural peanut butter to get used to it, but it’s worth it. It’s just a process of re-acclimating your taste buds to natural, unprocessed foods.</p>
<p>Again, switching from these added flavors will take time, so don’t be all gung ho and try to make the switch in a week, or even a month. You probably grew up on these types of foods, which is why it will be harder to make the switch. But the sooner you do the better it will be for you. You will be healthier, and you will feel better&#8211; because those unnatural types of foods are slowly killing you. Food is a drug, and the food companies know what is most addictive.  All that added stuff is destroying your liver and other organs, and causing a roller coaster effect with some of the hormones in your body.</p>
<p>Try making 1 change a week. If you are using sweetener in your coffee/tea, lighten it up a little each week until you taste the natural flavors. If you use a lot of salt in your cooking, try making the switch to some healthy spices/herbs. Make the switch from cakes, pastries and sweets to all natural tasty fruits. The hard part is starting—so just ‘go for it!’</p>

<p>Peel potatoes and cut into 1 1/2 - 2 inch cubes. Cook potatoes in a large pot until tender, about 10 minutes. Do not overcook.</p>
<p>Drain the potatoes and let them cool.</p>
<p>In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, celery, green and red peppers, and basil.</p>
<p>In a small bowl, stir together sour cream, Italian dressing, mustard, seasoned salt, sugar substitute (Splenda), and pepper. Pour the dressing over the potatoes and toss gently until thoroughly coated. Refrigerate at least 4 hours to blend flavors and chill. Sprinkle with paprika and garnish with fresh herbs.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There is a saying: &#8216;You are what you eat.&#8217; This however, is not really true. It&#8217;s more appropriate to say: &#8216;You are what your body digests and then absorbs.</p>
<p>The point of setting the record straight on this matter is when you consider certain foods and their possible harmful affect. I am talking about the types of food that when digested and absorbed give an acid ash residue in the body. This unhealthy internal &#8216;acidic&#8217; environment can be a prerequisite to the introduction of so many illnesses, since many harmful micro- organisms can invade and cause disease. Cancer, for example, can occur through the result of an &#8216;acid body&#8217; by eating too many acid-giving foods. The body&#8217;s blood pH is usually around 7.4 a healthy alkaline state, but acid foods lower this figure.</p>
<p>Besides cancer, other affects of eating too many acid foods include: Overweight, diabetes, immune deficiency, kidney and bladder problems, fatigue, premature aging, osteoporosis, aching joints, acing muscles, heart disease, high blood pressure strokes, parasitic infection, digestive disorders, mood swings and difficulties in concentrating&#8230; -As you can see the list of ailments is vast.</p>
<p>Generally, the acids foods to be careful of are:</p>
<p>Meats</p>
<p>Beef, pork and pork-based products, lamb, mutton, chicken, turkey and pheasant&#8230; Crab, shrimps, prawns, lobsters&#8230;i.e. crustaceans. Sardines, cod, haddock and salmon.</p>
<p>Dairy Foods</p>
<p>Cheese, cream, butter, milk and milk-based drinks, eggs, yogurt and ice cream.</p>
<p>Miscellaneous</p>
<p>Spaghetti, macaroni&#8230; i.e. all types of pasta, white bread, wholemeal bread, bran oat, bran wheat, whet germ, blueberries, honey, oatmeal, peanut butter, peanuts, pistachio nuts rice (brown and white), plums and prunes.</p>
<p>From the Convenience store</p>
<p>All refined sugar products. Microwavable, ready made or instant meals.  Beware of the cans of, tins of, packets of&#8230; foods with all their mysterious E -numbers, preservatives, chemicals, over saltiness&#8230; Dehydrated (powdered) soups, fast foods, soy sauce, cooking fats and oils, saturated fats and hydrogenated oils. Sunflower oil, corn oil and margarine, which, by the way, is worse than butter. Canned drinks, fizzy drinks, tea, coffee and artificially sweetened drinks&#8230;</p>
<p>Some Foods that are neutral, but have the effect of acidifying&#8230;are corn oil, sugar and high fructose corn syrup.</p>
<p>In more general terms, the acids foods to be careful of are:</p>
<p>Meats, fatty foods, dairy products, factory-processed foods, sweets&#8230; If foods are overheated then the vitamin and enzyme content will be spoiled, causing the nutrition value to be greatly reduced.</p>
<p>The way towards the healthier option is an alkaline diet: A balance of around 80% alkaline foods to 20% acid foods would be recommended. I would also recommend reading my article on the subject of eating alkaline foods, it might just transform you health and well-being!</p>
