    Čamac je manje plovilo koje karakterizira koritast oblik, a služi za prijevoz ljudi i tereta na rijekama, jezerima i drugim vodenim površinama, osim mora na kojem se koriste brodice.

    Druga vrsta čamca je kanu u kojim veslači upravljaju uz pomoć vesla s jednom lopaticom. Svojim izgledom kanu podsjeća na kajak, no on nema zatvoreno nadgrađe te ima izraženiju vodenu liniju, oštriji pramac i krmu. Kanu se najčešće koristi kao čamac sportske namjene na mirnim i divljim vodama, ali i kao turistički čamac za rekreaciju po mirnim i divljim vodama. Podrijetlo čamca vezano je za kanadske Indijance koji su ga koristili kao čamac za transport ljudi i roba.
